Virtua Tennis 4 reminds me of Fantasy Tennis Online game (Unfortunately, it is not online anymore). The game is set in all the world with the best names of tennis and 3D created characters to fill up the game. You have a lot of different options and you can also choose between male, female, team or single match. Depending on which mode you choose, there is also the possibility to make money and unlock new interesting stuff, like rockets, pants, shirts and others. The idea of adding objects instead of the tennis rocket, like a cactus, was hilarious and funny. You can also power up your character by purchasing this stuff.
The more advanced is your player, the more money you will make, in case you win a match. There are also some interesting areas where you can upgrade your player. You start by creating your own character, where I choose to be a female and than start moving around the map and choose your desired card, in order to make steps. If the card is number 2, the player will make 2 steps in the map. There are 1,2,3 and 4 kind of steps in the map game. Also, you can choose to hire agents, but they will cost alot. Depending on the card though, you can buy them and there are different cards to choose.
In case you make a match, you will loose your condition and if you are really low, you can barely play and receive grave injuries. There are also some interesting mini-games which will give you a lot of money and upgrade your skills. Depending on which mini-level you are, they will require from you some kind of skills in order to progress and have more difficult mini-games which will upgrade your skills faster and make you richer. Becoming more famous, will give you the possibility to play with famous tennis player around the world and even team up with them, if they request it.
You can also choose the difficulty level depending if you want a more challenging games and have become a pro, or an easier game if you are new to tennis. The team game and single game were both very enjoyable. You can also upgrade your equipment and doing the job easier, but first you will have to unlock the items and have enough money to buy them. There are a lot of different tasks to solve before unlocking all the items, even if you complete the World Tour mode completely. There is also a secret for each item.
You can learn new techniques, depending on your level. The technique is activated immediately in case the exact button is pressed. Assuming that your condition level is full, your special technique gauge will be filled much faster and if you have your condition low, you will have difficulties even at walking. When your player levels up, you will have more time to spend playing, because the condition gauge will become wider.
The graphics where very neat and there is simply no need for better. The game's visuals were absolutely amazing even though there could be some visual glare effects (like Grid 2) or other interactions when the player wins the game, or losses it. The models in the game were very detailed, but it is obvious because it is just a tennis stadium, not a whole city. It totally depends on your point of view though.
Talking about the bad stuff, I totally hated when you kept pressing the buttons and the player reacted 1 second late, ruining all the game. It happened a lot of times and that is something the developers should review. Also, the animations were exactly the same, making the game somewhat boring after some time. The mini-games was the best idea of the whole game, especially the players upgrade after the match. A mini-game can be a poker match, keep the flow, earn money and a lot of other interesting stuff.
All in all, this game is really fun and you will spend a lot of time to complete it. Even after completion you can still play again. What is even better, is that you can play with your friends in a team match. This game is very good and I would absolutely recommend it.
