How we rate the games?
Back in 2004 there was a game which caught a lot of attention. Weapons, movements, models, textures and a lot more made this game one of the most interesting games of its year. Its Riddick and I clearly remember playing it with my friends. Even though it was not really good to kill people in that way, Riddick had the magic of being a unique video game.
Gameplay is quite interesting. You start off a ship and go inside a futuristic prison where all captives are held. The main character is the famous Vin Diesel and to tell the truth he was the exact person to be as main actor. As you enter inside, you start killing a lot of people and basically that was how it ends. Unfortunately, you were dreaming all the time and it comes out that you start as a captive. Going through obstacles, using weapons, melee or firearms, using stealth and a lot more skills, you will win your freedom and gain a lot of friends. What I liked most, was the money you gathered and the cigarettes which unlocked new stuff in the game.
Optimization has some problems. First of all, when you grab a body and move it, it will start shaking like nuts. That is terrible optimization, but for the gamer it could be fun. Another thing to mention, is that there are areas where the game crashes and the worst thing to happen is that it will even ruin your save file. This happens rarely though, since a lot of forums around the internet didn't complain about it. Last thing I clearly noticed, were the shadows. Even if its old technology, of 2004, the game is great, seriously, but the shadows were executed in wrong places, which was somewhat illogical.
The story is clearly a masterpiece. I don't know if it has to do with real life, since it happens in the future, but the story itself is amazing. Since you started as a captive, you enter inside the prison and understand a lot of stuff like kill or be killed. It has a lot of violence and blood, which I somewhat dislike, but the idea is wise enough to catch attention.
Sound in the game has good and bad stuff. As always, a lot of games have some irritating sounds. In Riddick, when you go to the menu and start moving it around, you will hear a sound which is not comfortable. I think that they should have payed more attention to the sound because it wasn't really good.
Overall, even though Riddick dates back from 2004, it is one of the most interesting games I have ever played. During the journey you even learn things from real life and what to do in such situations. The story was really immersible, especially if you like watching action films. Good luck with this game!
