How we rate the games?
Rayman Legends derives from Rayman franchise, which is well-known as a platformer. I remember playing it in the PS1 and it was a whole new era at that time, playing 3D games, but this was 2.5D and still made gamers play this great game and have fun with it.
The game unfortunately gives a first impression as a kids game and it somewhat is. Not only the neat graphics, but even its characters look funny and not serious, movements, animations and a lot more gives that feeling. The game is somewhat fun and it still gives that old nostalgia feeling for the PS1 (Play Station 1). The game has a lot of levels and actions though, making you pass a lot of great time playing this game. It really depends though at what angle you see this game, since it looks really childish.
The graphics were amazing though, but this is not a new thing from ubisoft. You will play this game with a decent card, even from previous generations since there is not a big deal of graphics in 2.5D games. There were a lot of animations for the heroes in the game and enemies too. Lightning seemed quite thrilling and textures were perceiving the desire to be part of the game. Fortunately, the game was not really repetitive when it comes to graphics and you had a lot of illustrations to enjoy during your gameplay.
The game is based on the collection of some weird yellow angels which become purple if the previous collected angel was purple and you win double points. It might sound a silly idea but it is fun. You also have to help other weird civilians in the game in order to progress and unlock other stages. There are also some sort of stickers which have to be scratched to see what you got. It happens that you will win a monster which will help you in your journey by giving free yellow spirits which can be used in unlocking more heroes. Each hero has its own strengths and powers. The more you press the attack button the more power will be accumulated, which can be extruded from hands, or other body parts depending totally on the hero of choice.
The idea is quite impressive, not because of stuff looking like a game for little kids, but because that is totally imagination. I mean, there is no rayman in real life, so you get the idea. Even the environments were amazing and it made the player play the game more and more as you collect and pass levels. The idea of adding secret areas is quite amazing to say the truth and that is one of my preferences in games. Unfortunately, the game itself was very easy to pass and the secret areas were more of a bonus which didn't affect the passage of the game level.
Overall, Rayman is unique, genius and childish idea. There will always be something bad in a good game but this game still rocks like the old days. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the old one, since it is just a repeated idea from the original one. See you next time and don't forget to comment!
