How we rate the games?
Portal 2 is a relativity game. Those who love science will absolutely like this game too. There is a new idea on the game, but the engine still remain that of Half-Life. This is not a bad thing and apparently it seems better. I really enjoyed the game and you have to use your brains to pass levels, even though they would seem pretty easy. The portals in the game could teleport you around from the orange to the blue and vice-versa.
The graphics of the game was good enough to play and I really liked some of the effects. The portals are amazingly intuitive and seem like a new idea into the video game development. It was pretty funny too, but sometimes you might get bored by the robot who always talks and might irritate you. The cool thing was that the game was totally based on the portals and you had just to pass them. The bad thing was that it was just portals and not too much to move around. It might be good or bad, the choice is yours.
When it comes to optimization, this game is a pro, but don't get me wrong as for the initialization, there are a lot of users which have problems even starting up the game but I don't exactly know since I didn't come up to that kind of situation. Taking that with a bit of salt, I would say that the game itself was perfectly optimized, especially the portals, which were amazing. I don't know any other game which is like this one, with portals, but maybe somewhat the same idea might be of some other game.
The story was really interesting, as you start in your room and I didn't really understand why the girl didn't talk at all, but at least that room got smashed away and you started the game into a new puzzle immediately. That means, you have to go puzzle after puzzle and it might sound very repetitive. It totally depends on your way of thinking, but I assure you that it is very important to know what you will come up to, because the portals will give you an idea on how they work and that means a big help for you on your next puzzle.
The sound of the game might seem very boring at times, but you will enjoy it most of the time. It was not really perfect, but enough to make you happy with what you got. What I didn't like was that robot's voice who kept talking and talking, making some nonsense sometimes but he will just pass by after some puzzles, not a big deal.
Overall, the game seems a new genre and a complete new idea which might help even physicists on their relativity ideas. If you like science and first person shooting, this game is a must. Have fun enjoying this game!
