How we rate the games?
Omerta: City of Gangsters is a Tropico like game. If you have played strategy games before, Tropico gave a new way of playing it. Now it comes a version with gansters and it seems really cool, so lets get to work and review this game!
Your objective is very clear, to reign all over the city by force, money or whatever it takes. You will become the owner of several areas using money, dirty or clean. The more valuable the building, the more money you would need and the more clear you need to have them. No matter what, you can generate an income with your proprietary buildings, making it easy enough to buy every single one left. Either way, your missions might depend on what you will do. You can even end up in jail if you break the rules and get a heat of five stars, but you can bribe the police or attack them to get your gangstas out of jail. You will have your own companions during the journey because it is impossible to do that alone. Seems quite realistic, right?
The graphics were good, but since it is a strategy game, I wouldn't criticize about the quality of the graphics because the real point in a strategy game, is its optimization and that needs a lot more to do. You will certainly enjoy every single bit of this game, so don't feel really bad about the graphics, but seriously, they where good enough to make you enjoy the game itself. The optimization of the graphics, where very good, the game loaded quickly and it didn't require a lot of graphics processing either, so you can let graphics alone for now. Depending on which resolution you are playing though, you would need a better GPU(graphics processing unit) which will help you in your journey.
When it comes to optimization, the game is quite a winner, not a single bug, at least as long as we did the review. There is a lot of work into the makings of this game and I personally really admire it. Strategy games are reknown to be the most difficult games ever made and it is quite normal, because it is all about optimization, so graphics are not exactly very important, but you know that the better the graphics, the better the feel of the game. It really depends though, if you like these kind of games, as I know a lot of people who hate these kinds, but they are good at first person shooting games. You might be good at both, so this game is for you too, but if you have played at least a game about Tropico and you really enjoyed it, you will like this too. Actually, it is not only Tropico gameplay into this game, but when you enter inside buildings, you can command your gangsters exactly as you would do in XCOM:Enemy Unknown. There is a lot of workings into the game and I would refer this as a double game, 2 in one.
The story is quite interesting and it is about you and your chosen character. When choosing your character, you can choose between his face, name, perks and other stuff which will impact your gameplay. Later on you can level up not only yourself, but even your other gangsters which get payed to do the job. The game is situated in different cities, so you won't be stuck with only one single map. You will profit when the story roots are all about you and your deep friends, which come really handy when you want to sell your stock stuff. You can upgrade buildings so your earnings, likings and feat will generate more, making your game easier, but mind that every upgrade has its cost, with money and even decreasing some other aspect, like earnings.
Overall the game was quite fun and I personally really enjoyed it. Now, can you please leave me alone with this game, so I can play in peace! Just kidding, but this game is really great. Have fun!
