How we rate the games?
Just Cause 2 brings back the great action from its first game of the series. The game is actually really fun, where you can grapple on buildings, throw yourself from helicopters or use heavy weight guns. Whatever this game might look like, it was great fun, exploding buildings, capturing bases and completing missions.
The gameplay gives a nice idea of the free world and you simply can go wherever you want and do whatever you want! No matter what, the most important point of the game was capturing the enemies bases. That will give you great respect from your parties, unlocking you new vehicles. I personally liked helicopters, since they where faster and later on the game, you will use much powerful ones using rockets. The graphics are improved a lot from last time, but this is not all of it. The whole map is much bigger and the idea of the game expanded much more with a lot of weapons.
Judging the idea, as to what it really gives, it feels like James Bond with a Syphon Filter way of throwing things at you. The game might seem easy, but you can change its difficulty if you really want and see what happens after that. If you want to play a mission, you simply go and take the mission, that simple. You can use vehicles around the world to go there and whatever happens, you can steal another one. The grappling hook is the most important tool in the game, because it really gives the idea of the free world and you can grapple nearly to everything you want, at a great distance. Jumping into buildings makes the game really special and it is the only game I have seen to use the grappling hook in nearly every single situation.
The graphics optimization it is very good, but it doesn't mean that you won't need a lot of gpu power from your computer. Either way, the game is somewhat old by now, so I would recommend having a good gpu, but not buying a brand new only because you will play this game. Using my 6770HD video card, it was clear that it handled everything in HD resolution. This is quite good, especially if they are giving some DirectX 10 graphics, but don't let yourself down just because of its version because the new one only has some new features and even if the new games are going to use the latest technology, it doesn't always mean that the game will benefit totally from it.
Talking about DirectX 11, it is known to be faster than DirectX 10 and 9, but 9 is faster than 10th version. Even though this might seem good, including the new features, it nearly goes the same at speed, but still it is better optimized. The 11th version also has some stuff pre-built meaning that the new games will have a chance to come to public and getting released somewhat faster than with the old technology. That is quite a lot of work to do, but the developers will have some time to spend for themselves.
Just Cause, is well-known for its free world and since we already have number 2, it is clear that the first one was a great success. I have played the first and it was seriously great, especially when you called for your vehicle and it was left exactly after like 5 seconds for you. To tell the truth, some of the Far Cry 3 concepts are very similar to Just Cause, especially the liberation of the bases. If you really liked Far Cry 3, have a great time playing this one too!
Overall this game is quite good, but has some bad optimization, like pixel detection, sometimes or nearly always when you grapple to the top of a building you get stuck at the top, having no chance but to throw yourself down, or other stuff which might hurt the gameplay. The movements of the player where somewhat cubical and not fluid, giving a feel like a puppet instead of a player. It is your choice to judge this game, but it was good if you want to ask me, even the first one.
