How we rate the games?
If you love ball games with a mix of adventure and puzzle, this game is perfect for your needs. One of the best games I have ever played with a ball and to tell the truth it might be the best game. Luckily the game had very good graphics, nice physics and barely any bugs. You actually play all the time as a ball. You can go wherever you want, but you should progress to other levels in order to see a change of fields. The game gets even more difficult, the more levels you complete and it won't be easy.
The gameplay is the most important aspect for this game and it truly wins with a very simple concept. The ball has super powers because it can attract or push other objects, move around slowly, or dashing while pressing space. That is all there is to it! There are some switches though and some beautiful lights which come after you if attracted. The game becomes somewhat tricky the more you progress and this is the real fun. I personally enjoyed the difficulty of the game and it seems very well designed. Each level has its own beauty and especially nature theme, which I personally prefer the most, is absolutely amazing.
As you can see, the graphics of the game seem quite amazing. It might depend though on which machine you are playing and what graphics specifications have you set up. I personally enjoyed the whole experience. The graphic effects seemed to be intriguing too because we don't see this show off everyday. The shadows and lightning are perfect as they become visible at an angle. The game might have been more interesting if you could change the texture of the ball and I guess this is very possible if its developers work a bit more on a second version, if there would be one, of course.
The optimization is not so good. The game started to drop FPS instantly when you are experience high amount of grass and this is somewhat stupid and notably a headache. The solution might be to lower the camera so you could see above the ball and like that it would have been easier for you to move around. The ball might also get stuck in different places which forces you to restart the game, which is absolutely stupid, because there could have been a reset button for the ball. What I understood for the game, it didn't have any graphics optimization at all by its developers, it was just the UDK game engine doing all the job and those developers just filled in everything they could into the game. I really love the physics of the ball though, but there are circumstances, like a whale splashed in the water which doesn't make any sense and tells me that those guys just tried to fill in the game as much as they could.
The idea is amazing and boring. You could move around, power up your speed, great environments and textures, nice 3D models (even though there are no organic stuff). On the other side, there are no interactions with people or animals, barely anything changes in the game, with the exception of difficulty and environment, which is very unfortunate with a lot of indie games. It felt somewhat like a crash bandicoot game with less options and better graphics. I personally didn't understand what the heck did the whale mean in the game, which totally sucked.
Sound in the game was very good, especially effects. It might become somewhat irritating though if it gets repeated over time. Overall the game is a must, even though it might sound not great. It is simply because today the best companies tremendously lack ideas and FPS games are nearly copy pasting each other. At least Influx developers tried to change the table with their game.
