How we rate the games?
Except its story, Gone Home seems quite a boring game, not only because you walk around a home and try to find stuff hidden inside of it, but because the inside of the home felt so much Slender Man. It has a good story, yeah, but we have a game here, not a novel, neither a film. The idea still feels lacking some stuff and when I say good story, I say that because other reviewers have written good stuff about it.
The game itself is a boring game, not much to do, just interact with stuff, move around, open lights, find some secret places, open safes and that is it. It is the story about a girl, who for no real reason tries to find stuff around the house, talks about a lot of people, but as long as I played, I didn't even meet anyone. The game tries to scare you somehow but no big deal. I liked the secret places where you had to move walls in order to progress, but the boring thing is that it is shown on the map, not that you have to use your outstanding skills to find them.
The graphics seemed very good, nothing more to add, even though you could think of some improvements. I especially liked the idea of interacting with nearly everything, from pencils to lights and so much more, but unfortunately that is what you actually do all the time. Every single item you interact with, could be rotated into 3D like in a sphere. The overall house design was very neat too. If the developers could spend some time in adding other stuff in the game, like interacting with people, adding phantoms or stuff like that since the beginning of the game.
Not a lot to say though but I was amazed at how much this game really scored to other websites, which as unfortunate as it is and will always be, judge the game by its strongest point and never look at their adversaries. If you have to buy this game, I would definitively recommend Slender Man which is a much better choice with nearly the same idea. That is your own choice though and the final verdict too. Happy gaming!
