How we rate the games?
Devil May Cry 5, the game I was waiting for to review, it is now with us today! I will tell you that a lot of people misjudged this game before its release by playing the demo. I understand that a lot of stuff in the demo was removed so the bad idea about it, it is now clear. The game wasn't bad, it was really fun and much better than the last one. Only thing people would hate is the story, maybe because of their personal ideas, but that is just imaginary, even though a lot of stuff was taken from the real world. I don't really mind how the story goes, since this is a game, not a film.
Gameplay is maybe the most important part about a game, so I will start with it. This game is not only unique to its gameplay, but this one gave a lot more to the previous series. Only thing I somewhat hated, where the controls which were a little difficult to learn, but the more you go deeper into the game, the more you get used to it. There was nothing bad or reknown from other reviews I have personally read wrong with that, unless they played the demo. What was funny, is that they cut pieces from the story and made it look very bad, but if you play the game since the beginning it really starts making sense and there is the reason why this guy acts good and looks bad.
Looking into the graphics, I would say that this was the major improvement of the game. I had the biggest impact into the graphics and it really felt like Devil May Cry 4. I was amazed how could this game be bad with all this stuff and the team behind the development of the game has done a great job. Even though some enemies are very awful, they tried their best to make them as much awful as possible. In any case, lightning, textures and the graphics where completely perfect. If you want to know what spec requirements you should have, I would recommend the card I have, AMD 7660, which is even downclocked and running on 1920x1080 resolution (Known as Full HD), so the optimization of the graphics is amazing, which is really rare. What I heard from other reviews was very demotivating and I personally think that it would be best to watch the gameplay, than accept what is really wrong.
The story is greatly misjudged, since the way Dante acts like that, is because he is a Nephilim, half demon and half angel, so he acts bad and good in the same time. The deeds he made where explained before, like the feelings he has for the girl in the game, the coke which is a bad thing the bad guys use to make people even more dump than they could be. No matter what, he got both evil and good inside of his heart. Even though you might not see the old character, he is the main character, just that he has lost his memory. Adding this stuff to the game, might have made a lot of people misjudge the game itself, but if you ask my personal opinion, I liked the story too. There was love, where evil takes away the one Dante loves, exactly as in Devil May Cry 4, there was evil and now it looks much worse, more weapons and techniques, simply put nothing wrong.
Optimization is improved greatly, but the controls felt difficult to handle. Even though the points you gain stay like that, there is no real problem, because if you get hurt they go below and you would need more points in the end of the level to gain triple S. What was really amazing, was that the hand which got removed from the previous Devil May Cry, has now returned in the angel and evil way. You would press Q for Angel mode and E for the evil mode. There was a rage mode too, so with that addition, none can really complain and there is nothing more they would put into the game. I expected the game to be shorter, just like the last one, but it seems that this is going to be long enough to keep you playing for at least a day. The last one could be completed in like 7 hours, but it really depends on how well and which difficulty you choose.
Overall the game was the game of the year for 2013! Since there are no really great games released, this really deserves it, but don't get it personal though. The bad idea and reputation this game got before when I did DMC 4 review, was probably because of the demo. For those who have never played Devil May Cry games, this one is a must. At first you might not really like it because there are those dark areas and the game starts really big moving from one dimension to another, but I tell you that this was really cool. If you are underage, I wouldn't recommend this game though as it had dirty words. Have fun playing it!
