How we rate the games?
As a matter of fact, this game has become legendary. Even nowadays, plenty of gamers still play crysis, no matter how old it gets. For its time, it was revolutionary, even for today's needs, it really is. When this game came out, all the forums, from all over the world, where blown with topics like "Can it run crysis?", but this happened for a good reason. The game actually needed a very powerful graphic processing unit and was the most demanding game of the time.
What this game is notorious for, is the nano-suit with carbon fibers that you use to power-up your player, but you will need energy to do that, just like being in the future. Even though I personally don't like this kind of games, first person shooter, I find the graphics and the idea of your vest, the most important point this game has. I mean, all other games got a lot of weapons, perfect pixel detection, very good artificial intelligence, but crysis, simply has had a lot to add into its cards for the time it was released.
The optimization is clearly perfect, but when it comes to the graphics, it might be the physics which make it so demanding. Even though I am reviewing crysis 2, this is for the sake of the franchise and didn't want to go back to the first one, since it has some time from now that it was released. The nano-suit, controls, movement where all perfect, didn't find anything which was buggy. I personally think though, that adding so much graphics, makes the game very heavy so it would need optimization and this is absolutely clear.
When playing other new games, even though they are built with DirectX 11, the difference is not so great as a technology when it comes to speed, but the point where they missed I think it was the graphics optimization. Even though, the game didn't need any logic to pass through the missions, since it is clear that you just kill enemies, aliens and stuff like that, than it is mission completed. It will become really boring, especially when you need to refuel your energy like 20 times or more per mission objective. The suit you will wear, has a lot of high technology bundled in. You can use it to jump further, run faster, fortify armor, become invisible and other stuff which is really unique and great at the same time.
Adding aliens into the game, might feel kind of boring, because it has a lot of fantasy, but it is not. The aliens are maybe the most important unit into the game, because first of all, you will need to kill them and add points of upgrade to your nano-suit. Second, this is an addition to the game from the humans and their flying equipment is really superb. You will also be able to use vehicles during the game and with this addition I really think they have done a great job. The model design, textures, lightning feels very realistic and is maybe unique in its own way. Unfortunately, the game has quite some time since it was released, so the game won't be a good alternative to other games, but this probably is going to entertain for quite some time.
Even though the game doesn't feel great when it comes to the story, the aliens are the whole idea and futuristic technology. For those who don't believe in such things, there is no problem at all, since you can still play the game! I know this might sound somewhat awful, but that is not a real problem and the aliens are fun too. They will have other technology from yours, so you will need their powers to become even more powerful than you are. You can raise your armor durability, add more speed to your running and other stuff related to the vest.
Overall, the game still gives a good punch to the latest games and I think this should still be a good buy. There might come other alternatives for you, but you will still have to search around if any new game is out. The game is not anymore so demanding, because with the new hardware, comes better power.
