How we rate the games?
Brothers A Tale of Two Sons is a game dedicated to only two players, who are actually brothers. You will have to move them both simultaneously and that is very irritating at first, but later on you will get the hang of it. Since you start the game you are advised that the game is designed to run better in a console controller, not on a keyboard.
The gameplay was somewhat very passive, with very little things to do. All you could do was to use both brothers and move them. Apart from that, nothing was really exciting in the game. There are some places where the game gets cool, but only because of the graphics or because of the story. The language they used was very boring and I didn't understand why they had to talk like that all the time, even though the menu was totally in English.
Graphics are really cool in this game, but as we know pretty well, it will serve commercially well. This game is clearly not designed to be played with a keyboard which certainly ruins the whole fun of the graphics. The lighting in the game was amazing and even though it didn't have some of the latest features, it still had a great impact, since it is using the Unreal Engine. One interesting thing I have to mention, is the graphical animation, like water splashes who seemed pretty realistic for this kind of game.
Optimization is where the game clearly lacks a lot. They could have created something else, not a two brothers game where you had to control them both at the same time. This made the game very boring and you had to use for the first time in your life (or maybe not, if you played two people at a time) a lot of keyboard buttons to make two players move around. Think about it, they offer as default to press WASD and Space for action for the big brother and arrows up, down, left, right, including right ALT to make things even greater for the little brother. There are times you have to press all these keys at the same time.
The idea of the game seems unique, but I tremendously hated the words they said, since that had nothing to do with the game itself. There might be an English version, but I doubt about that. The brothers always tried to work together and there were times where you had to use both brothers to pass to the next area. The theme looked up really nicely and the story was thrilling, it made quite an impact especially at the start of the game.
Sound was really good, especially the music which seemed from the medieval era. Overall it is your own choice, but if it wasn't for the weird voices of the game, boring gameplay and moving two characters at the same time, it would have certainly scored much higher.
