Iphone is a threat for console gaming
The new iPhone is very close to console graphics, especially that of Xbox 360. According to specialists in graphic sectors, the new Xbox and PlayStation generation coming out really soon are going to be threatened by mobile gaming. It is quite clear now that the mobile market is booming out and more people are trying to be part of it. One of the interesting things is that mobile gamers are also console or PC gamers and rarely some of them is only a mobile gamer.
A lot of game companies are already switching to mobile gaming to raise their profits. During last year Apple raised eight times the number of mobile graphics jobs thus being noted that it is becoming a reasonable market. For graphics programmers though, only a third of them can make a living out of game programming, meanwhile others strive to keep on. Even so, the number of game programmers has seen a raise since mobile gaming and game engines started to show off (Special note: Unity game engine which has a free version). In the meantime, the same game in a PC is automatically recreated for mobile, while some of the features will be off, like anti-aliasing or shadows.
Even so, it seems that the new iPhone with its triple core graphic card is capable of exhibiting a lot of PS3 or Xbox 360 games with some of the features cut off and low-res textures. Even we all know that mobile gaming has a lower resolution, it will normally suck a lot of GPU power since some mobile have HDMI, thus playing the game on a high-definition monitor. We really hope the best for these companies!Discuss more on the forums
