Benefits of playing video games
According to some universities and institutions around the world (University of Utah, Harvard and Oxford) playing video games is good for you. Also, gamers who prefer difficult games, are better at spatial skills, math and others.
Here are the benefits:
1. Spatial skills
During a test in California, 100 pre-school children were asked to form a puzzle. Half of the children played video games nearly every day, meanwhile the other ones never played before or that have played rarely. The children who played video games completed the puzzle for 15-20 minutes, meanwhile the other children who actually didn't play video games, didn't even complete it or completed it for more. According to the people who did the research, video games make children to solve difficulties in life and with more ease since they will be prepared for tomorrows challenges. The puzzle required spatial skills since the children didn't know which one is going to be the next piece to place.
Math is well-known to be a subject which can become easier if you play video games. A similar test as the onebeforewas made with 3rd grade pupils. This time though they had to number the triangles and cubes in the room. Some of the children didn't even try to number them, meanwhile others numbered them. Only five children didn't from the video game group, meanwhile fifteen children did on the other side. Even though math is known to be a headache for pupils, they will manage it easily if they play video games.
3. Reduced stress and depression
Video games greatly reduce stress and they can benefit in the people's reactions. This does not mean that it always will, but at least it is a good practice to play video games and be happier, especially when you meet your goal in specific games. Even genres can influence stress largely if it has to do with the gamers life.
4. Increased vision and other abilities
Video games increase vision since the gamer tries to find items from the screen. This is a well-known ability gamers have and it is not the only one. Gamers are more exposed to guns and rifles, thus raising their accuracy and precision, especially when dealing with snipers. Gamers can be better when controlling vehicles since they have exposure on different cars, bikes, planes and others. It totally depends on the game being played.
Of course there are even more benefits, but these four are well-known.Discuss more on the forums
